Description

Medical engineering is one of the fields of knowledge that works through the integration of two fields of knowledge namely engineering and medicine to improve the health of people to a better level through the innovation of medical equipment that helps the human body to perform its vital functions. it is fully functioning and producing organs to replace organs that have been lost for whatever reason. Medical engineering is a science that combines technical sciences (mechanical, electrical, electronic, computer) and between biomedical and physiological sciences, where advanced engineering theories and techniques are used to solve, analyze and resolve biomedical problems by designing appropriate tools and devices. measure and understand physiological and vital systems and develop devices capable of treating and solving disease, which requires studying how these devices work, maintenance and modelling. So there was a need for an engineer who, on the one hand, has partial knowledge of all these specialties and, on the other hand, knows how to deal with doctors, taking care not to replace any of them. A medical engineer must have a strong engineering background and have enough knowledge in the biological and physiological sciences and medicine to do their job to the fullest. Medical engineering greatly enables innovation, development and invention due to the diversity of medical disciplines and large physiological systems (the human body) that this field of engineering deals with.

The Department of Medical Engineering was established at the Libyan Academy based on the decision of the former secretary of the Academy No. (147) For the year 2004 M. The actual studies at the department began in the spring semester of 2005M.

Vision

We are eager to become a prominent department locally and internationally in terms of teaching, research and development and a strong relationship with the industry community. We are also developing our curriculum to include modern disciplines such as alternative engineering design and bioinformatics.

Message

The department strives to prepare specialized competences and skills in all fields of medical engineering by following a creative approach in education, which depends on training the student in the method of scientific thinking and analysis and acquiring the skill of self-education that will help him in the use of technical sciences to solve medical problems.

Goals

The Department of Medical Engineering has a set of goals, including:

  1. Consolidation of the scientific research base and training of experts in the field of medical engineering.
  2. To develop the scientific research spirit among the students of the department and educate them to the methods and methods of modern scientific research in the field of medical engineering.
  3. Providing knowledge in fields related to scientific health services in a way that contributes to the service of society and its development and development of its capabilities.
  4. Accept scientific conferences and seminars that can contribute to the development of methods and approaches adopted in all areas of life.
  5. Preparation of qualified staff for teaching at universities and higher institutes.
  6. Providing highly qualified competences to the service and manufacturing sector to increase the level of their services to the society.
